Impressive school students: “Jugend forscht” at FAU

This year, the competition “Jugend forscht” for the region of Middle Franconia took place over two days at the Department of Physics at FAU. On February 27 and 28, the young researchers presented their projects in the assembly hall of the new building of the Erlangen Center for Astroparticle Physics (ECAP).

The main focus of the competition for the participants was the presentation of their project to the expert jury. In addition, there was a fun supporting program and a physics show presented by Kim Ludwig-Petsch from “experimentierbar”. The event concluded with the award ceremony, where the participants found out who had made it through to the next round.

A total of 10 projects in the two categories “Schüler experimentieren” and “Jugend forscht” won a regional prize and can now compete in the Bavarian state competition.

We are particularly pleased that some of the winners are regular participants of the Erlangen Student Research Center (Schülerforschungszentrum; www.efz.nat.fau.de) and that we were able to accompany and support them on their way to success in the competition:

– Viktor Pantushev with his project “Performance optimization of 3D motion analysis on low-performance devices” (1st place “Jugend forscht” Arbeitswelt / work environment),

– Leif Kuhbandner with his project “PrintCycle reuse of 3D printing remnants” (2nd place “Jugend forscht” Arbeitswelt / work environment)

– Anton Frommberger and Christian Igor Pis with their project “3 types of AI in comparison” (2nd place “Schüler experimentieren” Mathematik/Informatik)
